As we continue to deal with the growing concern and impact of the COVID-19 virus in our communities, it is essential that we all do our part to help slow the spread of the virus. With this in mind, we will be closing all Spare Time Sports Clubs’ facilities at 12:00 noon today, Tuesday, March 17 until further notice.
At this time it is difficult to predict when it will be safe to re-open the clubs. Our plan will be to re-open the clubs as soon as it is safe to do so, and we will explore the possibility of re-opening outdoor recreational services, like tennis and swimming, before full club facilities may be opened. We will of course be monitoring reports and updates from public health experts, and we will provide updates through the Spare Time mobile app and our website at www.sparetimesportsclubs.com.
Membership dues for the remainder of March will be credited to your account to offset future dues, and you will not be charged membership dues during the period of club closure. Refunds of program fees will be issued to your member account for programs that are cancelled. Fees for programs that are postponed will be held until we determine whether the programs will be rescheduled.
As always, we greatly appreciate your membership and support of our club. We will continue to send updates as the situation changes. In addition, you may contact our Member Services team at (916) 859-5944 or by email at email@example.com. We thank you for your loyalty and patience as we navigate these difficult times.

The health and safety of our employees, members and guests is our top priority. On one hand, regular exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle and helps support a strong immune system. The Coronavirus has caused unprecedented disruption globally over the past couple of weeks, and its effects are now moving into our local communities. We want to assure you that the health and safety of our employees, members and guests is our top priority. With this in mind, it is important that we take proper precautions to protect our employees, members and guests in the clubs. We are writing to provide you with information about the steps we are taking in this regard.
First and foremost, any employees, members or guests who are experiencing symptoms of respiratory illness, including coughing, sneezing, a cold, fever or shortness of breath, should refrain from coming to the club until they are healthy and asymptomatic for at least 24 hours. Anyone who arrives at the club showing such symptoms will be immediately separated from others and sent home.
Our regular business practices include extensive cleaning and disinfecting of our facilities and equipment on a daily basis. With the growing concern about the Coronavirus, we want to be extra vigilant in our cleaning practices. Additional steps that management is implementing at our clubs include:
Another important element of maintaining a safe and healthy club environment in the current circumstances is managing person-to-person contact to limit the potential exposure to the virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends avoiding physical contact and maintaining a distance of at least three feet from other people. This “social distancing” is difficult to maintain within the sports club environment. At this time, we are continuing our club programs and activities as scheduled except as otherwise announced, but we encourage our employees, members and guests to consider the following precautions:
· Avoid personal contact such as handshakes and hugs in personal greetings
· Where possible, try to maintain some personal space from others when working out on equipment, participating in classes or other activities, and socializing in the club
· Use towels on fitness and yoga mats
· Wipe down equipment before and after use with X-wipes provided by the club
· Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content frequently. The club provides hand sanitizer at various locations throughout the club.
Much is still unknown about the Coronavirus so information and appropriate responses are evolving on a frequent basis. Our current plans and practices reflect current information and recommendations based on guidance from the CDC, WHO and other sources. We are continuing to monitor developments relating to the Coronavirus and will provide updates as circumstances warrant.
We appreciate your membership and want to assure you that we are taking appropriate action to maintain a safe and healthy environment for your use and enjoyment. If you have any questions, please contact club management.
